Told almost entirely without dialogue, Lula del Ray tells the tale of a lonely adolescent girl who lives with her mother in a mid-century American Southwest setting. After a chance encounter over the radio, Lula becomes obsessed with the country music duo the Baden JULIA MILLER is a director, puppeteer, and puppet designer. With Manual Cinema she has directed Mementos Mori and The End of TV as well as created original roles in Ada/Ava (Ada), Lula del Ray (Lula's Mother), The Magic City (Helen), Hansel und Gretel (Hansel) and Frankenstein (The Creature/Helen). In Chicago she has worked as a performer and puppeteer with Redmoon Theatre and Blair Thomas With original music inspired by the likes of Hank Williams and Patsy Cline, Lula del Ray is at turns moody and bittersweet, exquisite and melancholic.
